Liinx - Le retour du fils prodigue
16/06/2025

Liinx, you're a Cameroonian rapper living in Sweden. You were voted Best Rapper of the Diaspora a few years ago at a ceremony in the USA. What memories do you have of that moment ?

Thank you very much for the having me. Yes. That was in Los Angeles in 2018. That was after I released my first EP (The Journey) and was honoured by AFRIFAMU - AFRICAN FASHION & MUSIC AWARD. It was very important for me because I had put in some good work on that EP with songs like Ashia Ft Mister Elad, K-Town Ft Ewube & Mic Monsta, Let Love Lead Ft Krotal that really touched the people. When they called that they wanted me to come over and grace the event with a performance as I was a nominée, I was really pleased. Then I went there. We had a great night in a beautiful & sold out venue. Later, I was called up as the winner of the Afro-Rap Artist in the Diaspora. I still really appreciate that moment till date. It is really a good feeling when your work is rewarded. It gives you strength to go even harder.

Some people describe your rap as intellectual, good-natured, without violence or vulgarity. How would you describe your style?

Yes. They are right. That is what I try to do with my music. That is what i stand for. People have stereotype ideas that Rap and Hip-hop must alway be in violent & swear language. I find that really misleading. So I decided I will show people that you can make good rap songs without all of that. The proof is out there on all my work. You will never hear uncensored words and cursing. That goes for the videos too. I try to make family friendly music which young ones can listen to and benefit from the strong messenges I also try to convey in my songs. So I think I will call my style Concious music.

After a long absence, you're back with a new project. First, why this absence, and second, what message do you want to convey with the single "SURVIVE"?

That is true. I have been away for a while. I had some challenges during these years. New life settings then some tragedy but we should not be there. We should be happy I am back. SURVIVE is a song of hope, resilience and courage. Standing strong to overcome adversity. Our country has been in a bad place for some years now. That has hugely affected the place where I come from. So we all have a collective duty to try and find a way forward and above all give the people hope that they can still rise from all that has happened.

I imagine you have high expectations for this comeback. You must have hundreds of songs in store for your audience. What can you tell them today?

I really do have high expectations. I have worked hard to match those expectations too so it’s nothing I am demanding for free from the public. I need them to listen to the songs deeply and feel every bit of it. That will make them better understand where we are going. I am going to be releasing lots of new music. Infact. I have so many songs I can’t even wait to share them. Survive is just the first out of many powerful songs we have in stock. I am asking the audience that when they listen and love the songs the least they can do is to help me share and spread the word on all their various platforms. That goes a long way to support the artist.

Thank you for your availability Liinx.
